FREE Vascular Screening For PAD Awareness Month
This month we recognize the health risks associated with Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) and the important role that a quick, painless screening can play in diagnosing PAD.
The Center for Vascular Medicine, with 6 convenient locations serving the Baltimore-Washington metro area, is offering FREE vascular screenings during September:
- September 25th at our Glen Burnie location
- September 24, 2015 at our Laurel location
What Is PAD?
Similar to the effects that arterial plaque can have on the heart and heart disease, PAD is the result of a build up of plaque in the arteries to the extremities, especially the legs. As the arteries become less efficient and blood flow is restricted, circulation is compromised. PAD can often lead to other health problems, including heart disease and stroke, as well as put patients at risk of losing a limb. Screening is quick, easy and painless! Plan to stop by our Glen Burnie or Laurel location on the above dates and be screened- it could help you to restore your health.PAD Risk Factors
If you are experiencing leg pain, cramps or difficulty walking, consider being screened for PAD. Understanding the major risk factors is also important- if you consider yourself at risk for PAD a screening may prevent more complex problems from developing:- Smoking and tobacco use
- Diabetic
- Sedentary lifestyle, especially when combined with weight gain and/or diabetes
- Obesity
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
